24 Hour Home Care NJ is committed to making our website and services accessible to people of all abilities, including seniors with vision, hearing, mobility, or cognitive impairments, and their family caregivers who may navigate the site under stress or fatigue. We design and maintain this site to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard as practicable, and we are subject to the accessibility provisions of the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III and the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination.

Our Accessibility Practices

  • Color contrast: Body text on the site uses at least 4.5:1 contrast ratio against background colors per WCAG 2.1 AA.
  • Font sizes: Body text is 16 pixels or larger; headings are scaled appropriately. The site supports browser-level zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
  • Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements (links, forms, buttons) are reachable by keyboard tab navigation in logical reading order.
  • Form labels: Every form field has a visible label or accessible name. Required fields are clearly indicated.
  • Alt text on images: All meaningful images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images use empty alt attributes so screen readers skip them.
  • Semantic HTML: Headings (H1, H2, H3) form a logical document outline. Lists use proper list markup. Tables (when used) include headers.
  • Skip navigation: Available for keyboard users to bypass repeated header navigation.
  • Captioned media: Any embedded video content includes captions or transcripts.
  • Plain language: Content is written at a reading level appropriate for adult caregivers, with technical or clinical terms explained.
  • Phone alternative: Every page prominently displays Sofia's direct line, (908) 912-6342, for visitors who prefer to talk by phone rather than read or fill forms.

Continuous Improvement

Web accessibility is not a one-time task. We continuously audit our site for accessibility issues using automated tools (Lighthouse, axe, WAVE) and manual review with screen readers. New content is published with accessibility in mind. When we identify barriers, we fix them.

Limitations and Areas We Are Working On

We acknowledge the following ongoing accessibility considerations:

  • Some legacy images on the site may lack ideal alt text; we are systematically reviewing and updating.
  • The interactive Cost Calculator on /nj-home-care-cost-calculator/ uses dynamic JavaScript; we provide phone alternatives for any visitor unable to use the calculator.
  • Third-party embedded content (such as Google Maps for our office location) may not always meet our accessibility standards; we are evaluating alternatives.

Telephone & In-Person Accessibility

  • TTY/Relay calls: Welcome via 711 (New Jersey Relay) or any state relay service.
  • Interpreters: We arrange Spanish-language and other-language interpreters for first calls on request. See our Spanish-Speaking NJ Home Care page.
  • In-home accessibility: Free in-home Registered Nurse assessments are conducted in the senior's home — no requirement to visit our office. Office visits, if desired, occur at 210 Haven Avenue, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076; the office is wheelchair-accessible.

Report an Accessibility Barrier

If you encounter content that is not accessible — a missing alt tag, a form that does not work with your screen reader, a page that does not display correctly at high zoom, content that is hard to read — please tell us. We will respond within 5 business days and aim to resolve issues within 30 days.
